Jo Titmus

Jo is an Associate of Mackey Wales Law who practices in our Commercial law team, acting for clients in a variety of commercial and business transactions.

Jo was first admitted as a solicitor in New Zealand in 1993 and after moving to Australia obtained her first Queensland practising certificate in 1996. Living in North Queensland ever since, Jo is passionate about the region and about supporting its communities, residents, businesses, organisations and services.

Jo has substantial commercial law experience having acted for a wide variety of individuals, commercial and business clients in commercial, contract, real property and intellectual property law matters. Jo has effected a number of complex commercial and property transactions and is able to provide a full range of business-related legal services, including advice on leases of commercial and retail shops, buying and selling businesses, commercial fishing vessel and licence conveyances, registering trademarks and domain names, negotiating and documenting all forms of commercial agreements required in business.

Jo enjoys developing long-term positive relationships with clients to ensure the pro-active and responsive development of their business and commercial interests.

She has presented seminars, workshops and general information sessions to government and private clients state-wide, from Brisbane to Cairns.

In addition to working at Mackey Wales Law, Jo is committed to contributing to her local community and effecting positive change for disadvantaged and vulnerable people and communities. She has previous experience in the disability sector and as a disability advocate. As an accredited swim instructor Jo has motivated and nurtured children with a variety of special needs to progress and develop their swimming skills. She is a past member and carer of North Queensland Wildlife Care Inc and is presently training an autism assistance dog for certification under the Guide, Hearing and Assistance Dogs Act (Qld) 2009.
