Founded in April 1984, the firm was originally known as P. Mackey & Associates and became the first firm in Queensland that specialised completely in providing Commercial Law services.
In early 1991 Colonel Tony Wales joined founding Partner Peter Mackey in the firm after a career as the Army Deputy Director of Legal Services in Australia.
Tony Wales continued the development of the firm in the rural, estate and general commercial areas until his retirement from private practice in 1997.
On 1 April, 2007, Townsville lawyers Patrick Sutton and Ross Greatrex joined Peter Mackey as principals of the firm. Both Patrick and Ross, who have practised in commercial law for their entire careers in Townsville, were the perfect fit to help take Mackey Wales Law forward into a new era.
The firm has continued to develop its unique strategic approach to the provision of legal services by investing huge resources into the individual professional development of specialised team members and the embracement of high-quality practice management systems.
